اختص الفصل الثاني من الكتاب في توضيح أثر المتغيرات العالمية على الإسلام السياسي ولعل أهم هذه المتغيرات سقوط المعسكر الإشتراكي والثورة الإسلامية في إيرات والتحالف الاستراتيجي الغربي في مواجهة الإسلام.
تعمّق الفصل الثالث في بحث أزمة الحوار بين الجماعات الإسلامية وتبيان اختلافها في استنباط الأحكام ومواقفها المتباينة اتجاه القضايا المعاصرة. كما حاول الباحث إيجاد مقاربة بين مفهومي الشورى والديمقراطية. ثم اختتم البحث بإبراز الملامح المستجدّة لمشروع النهضة الإسلامية مع إظهار التيارات الإسلامية الأساسية في الساحة السياسية العربية.
