يؤرخ هذا الثبت للنشاط السينمائي الجاري في العراق للفترة الواقعة بين عان 1968 وعام 1979، كما انعكس في الكتابات التي ظهرت في الكتب والصحف والمجلات الصادرة باللغة العربية في العراق وسائر الأقطار في الوطن العربي وفي بعض الأقطار الأجنبية.
ولعل من المهم الإشارة هنا إلى أن الكاتب لم يقتصر مهمته في هذا الثبت على تدوين ما يرخ للإنتاج السينمائي وحده، بل اتسعت لتشمل الأنشطة الجارية في العراق والتي لها أساس بالسينما كالاستيراد والتوزيع والمشاركة في المهرجانات والزيارات وما إلى غير ذلك.
وهذه الطريقة تضع القراء المعنيين من الباحثين والمخططين والمسؤولين أمام خطوط بيانية تكشف لنا جميعاً كمية المصادر النقدية والصحفية المكرسة للسينما في العراق خلال الفترة الممتدة من 1968 إلى 1979 فتوفر علينا جهداً وتختزل أزماناً كانت تهدر في البحث والتنقيب.
