يجب الإشارة -بادئ ذي بدء- إلى أن ما يستهدفه الباحث في هذه الدراسة هو، في الأساس، البحث في ظاهرة "التكلم"، تكلم المتكلمين الأحياء وتكلم كلامهم الحي، وهو ما اقتضى منه تكريس جهده فيما به يكون تكلم الكلام الصدر عنا (نحن المتكلمين الأحياء عموماً) أو عن كلامنا الحي عموماً، ومن ثم، فيما به يتكلم الكلام عموماً، والكيفية التي بها يتكلم.
وقد جاء هذا البحث في قسمين رئيسين: أ-قسم أول تناول فيه ظاهرة الكلام عموماً، ب-وقسم ثان تناول فيه تكلم نص الكلام عموماً.
على أنه يجب أن نعترف أخيراً أننا لا ننوي -خلال دراستنا هذه- تقديم معرفة يقينية عن "ظاهرة التكلم"، وإنما نحاول تقديم تأزيل خاص لهذه الظاهرة ولما قيل عنها، وهذا يقتضي أن ما سيتكلمه كلامنا عن ظاهرة التكلم -في هذه الدراسة- لن يكون هو الكلام الأخير، ولا نزعم أنه سيكون كذلك، بل لا نطمع له أن يكون كذلك، ولا شيئاً قريباً من ذلك، وكل ما نتمناه له أن يقع في الطريق إلى هذه الظاهرة، أو في مقتتح الطريق إليها.
