درج العرب والمسلمون على تأريخ أحداثهم وأمور حياتهم بالتقويم الإفرنجى (الميلادي) وقد أرادوا (أو أريد لهم) أن يتخلوا عن استعمال التقديم الهجري الذي يؤرخ الأحداث بدءاً من هجرة الرسول الكريم صلى الله عليه وسلم، والذي يحمل في طياته معنى عظيماً ينبغي الوقوف عنده والتأسي به، فلقد كانت الهجرة حدثاً تاريخياً عظيماً رسم ملامح الدولة الإسلامية العظيمة التي أقامها الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم وحفظها الصحابة والتابعون بعدها وعلو بنيانها وتوسعوا بها حتى امتدت ف أصقاع الأرض.
لكن هذا المعنى غاب عن عقول الكثير من المسلمين في يومنا هذا وأضحوا يتبعون الغرب في كل خطوة يخطوها شراً كانت أم خيراً ومحجتهم في ذلك أنهم يتوقون إلى التجدد والتحديث والعصرنة لكن الغيورين من أبناء الأمة الذين يدركون خطورة ما انجرت إليه الأمة أبو إلا أن يعيدوا إلى أذهان عظمة التاريخ الإسلامي الزاهر وقد انبرى أحد هؤلاء العلماء الأفذاذ إلى تأليف كتاب التوفيقات الإلهامية في مقارنة التواريخ الهجرية بالسنين الإفرنجية والقبطية.
وهو في مجلدين، يعرض المجلد الأول للأحداث التي وقعت بين سنتي 1 و750 هجرية، بينما يعرض المجلد الثاني للأحداث التي وقعت بين سنتي 75 و1500 هجرية وقد ذكر فيه أهم الحوادث الإسلامية والوقائع العلمية والحربية ، وأورد تاريخ حصولها وإلى جانب ذلك رصد المؤلف تاريخ الحضارة والفكر وعني بشكل خاص بأخبار التطور العلمي والطبيعي والصناعي والعسكري والديني والمذهبي والفني والأدبي للعالم.
وقد عمد الدكتور "محمد عمارة" بتحقيق الكتاب فصحح الكثير من الأخطاء التي وقعت في نسخة الأصل، واجتهد بالرجوع إلى المصادر التاريخية الأصلية المتعددة لتوضيح مراد المؤلف وكشف الغموض الواقع في النصوص، وأثبت ملحقاً للكتاب ضمنه خمسة عشرة خريطة تحكي تطور العالم الإسلامي منذ بدء الهجرة وحتى تاريخنا.
