لم يخل باب من أبواب النحو من ذكر شاهد نحوي قائله جرير، فقمت بحصر هذه الشواهد وعدها، ووجدتها تزيد على السبعين فاستعنت بالله فهو خير معين، واتجهت اتجاهًا محددًا في دراستها ألا وهو تقييم الشاهد من خلال النقاط الآتية:
ذكر الشاهد الذي تعرض له النحاة وإعطاء فكرة موجزة عن القضية التي يندرج تحتها الشاهد وذلك بعد وضع عنوان المسألة النحوية التي ورد فيها، إذا كان الشاهد مذكورًا في كتاب سيبويه أشرت إلى الأبواب التي ورد فيها، ثم تتبعت من وافق سيبويه ومن خالفه، وجمعت آراءهم مفصلة ليتبين ما ورد موافقًا للقياس، وما ورد مخالفًا له، وإذا لم يكن الشاهد في الكتاب ذكرت أول من استشهد به من النحاة ومن ذكره بعده مع الرجوع لكتاب سيبويه لبيان موقف سيبويه من نظيره من الشواهد، قمت بتوثيق الأبيات بالرجوع إلى الديوان، وبيان الرويات الواردة فإن كانت رواية الديوان على ما ذكر النحاة فيها ونعمت، وإلا بينت ما يتحمله الشاهد في الديوان أو اختلفوا في نسبته أشرت إلى ذلك، وعينت قائلة، ذكرت مطلع القصيدة المأخوذ منها الشاهد، وأعطيت فكرة موجزة عن مناسبة القصيدة ليسهل على القارئ الرجوع إليها كما لم أنس ذكر المعاني اللغوية لكلمات الشاهد لتعم الفائدة.
