تحت عنوان "مقام المعرفة: فلسفة العقل والمعنى" يفكك حسن عجمي المفاهيم إلى ما لا نهاية، ويسقط تحليلاته عبر ثلاثة مناهج لتحليل المفاهيم، أولها المنهج الإختزالي والمنهج اللا إختزالي ، الإعتمادي، والمنهج اللا إختزالي النظري ويقوم بشرح كل طريقة على حدة من أجل البرهنة على صدق تحليلاته، والغاية الإقرار بصدق نظريات فلسفية معينة، والقيام بتحليل المفاهيم على ضوء تلك المناهج التي يعتبرها المؤلف الطريقة الأفضل في تحليل المفاهيم، ومن ثم يقوم بتقييم تلك التحليلات مع تفضيل التحليل الناجح على غير الناجح في حال كون ذاك التحليل إختزالياً أم لا إختزالياً.
والكتاب في مضمونه يُعنى بالتأكيد على إزالة الفرق بين الفلسفة والعلم. فالفلسفة التحليلية هي التي تُعنى بتحليل المفاهيم ، ومثلها العلم، وبهذا المعنى فإن الفلسفة لا تختلف عن العلم بما أنهما يسعيان إلى تفسير الظواهر. من هذا المنطلق يسعى حسن عجمي إلى تحليل مفاهيم مختلفة بالإضافة إلى تفسير بعض الظواهر، فينطلق من تحليل مفهوم السببية إلى تحليل مفهوم العقل لينتهي إلى سؤال هام: لماذا يوجد الكون؟ وهل من الممكن أن الكون قد نشأ من العدم؟
أما عن الفلاسفة والمفكرين الذين تناولتهم هذه الدراسة فهم: إبن سينا، محمد أركون، علي حرب، سامي أدهم، محمد عابد الجابري، أدونيس، أنسي الحاج .. وآخرون، ومن الكتّاب الأجانب نذكر: كوين، ديفدسون، كربكي، كُون، جتير، لويس، وبنثم.
