تحتل الحركات الإسلامية اليوم، محوراً مركزياً في اهتمامات الرأي العام العربي الإسلامي والدولي، وتشكل عنصر "جذب" العديد من الباحثين والاستراتيجيين المعاصرين، وفي محاولة لإلقاء الضوء على هذه الحركات يأخذ المؤلف من تركيا نموذجاً عملياً لدراسته، ليتوصل إلى نتيجة مؤداها أن المسألة الدينية عموماً كانت في أساس تشكل تركيا "الكمالية" لجهة إلغاء الدين من الأنظمة الحقوقية، والسعي لتغييبه عن الوجدان الشعبي للأغلبية الساحقة من المجتمع، وقد استمر الدين (الإسلامي) والموقف منه ومن دورة، "ثابتة" لمحاورة الصراع السياسي والتجاذب الاجتماعي والسجلات الفكرية على امتداد عقود الجمهورية، ولم تكن قضية تبرز أو تختفي، تبعاً للمراحل والأحداث والتطورات، وكان يتم التعبير عنها بأشكال مختلفة وفقاً لظروف كل مرحلة، وهذا الكتاب يلقي الضوء على الحركات الإسلامية في تركيا بمختلف اتجاهاتها وفي الربع الأخير من القرن العشرين، من خلال وصفها في سياق تاريخي موجز امتد من العام 1923 إلى العام 1970 تاريخ نشوء أول حركة إسلام سياسي في تركيا الحديثة، حيث يعرض فيه المؤلف لواقع هذه الحركات، الطرق الدينية التاريخية منها والحديثة، والحركات الراديكالية المعاصرة، مع تخصيص فصل مستقل ومفصل عن حزب الرفاه، وسلفيه النظام الوطني والسلامة الوطني، برنامجاً وطروحات ومواقف قادته وصولاً إلى دورة في الحياة السياسية الاشتراعية والتنفيذية، على امتداد ربع قرن، فضلاً عن التحولات في الخطاب الإرباكاني بعد ترؤسه الحكومة في حزيران 1996 ومحاولة فهم هذه الازدواجية، وانتهى المؤلف إلى عرض العوامل التي يرتبط بها مستقبل الحركة الإسلامية في تركيا.
كتاب يلقي الضوء للمرة الأولى في العالم العربي، على واقع الحركات أهمية إضافية كون تركيا أول بلد مسلم يعتمد العلمانية.
