هذا كتابٌ من مؤلفات خاتمة محققي الشافعية، الذي على قوله وفتواه المعوَّل والمدار، الإمام شهاب الدين ابن حجر الهيتمي رحمه الله تعالى، جَمَعَ فيه الكثير الطيّب من مسائل اللباس المتعلقة بالعمامة والعذبة والطيلسان، التي تُشكل أحكامها على المتعلمين فضلًا عن عامة الناس.
قال مؤلفه الإمام ابن حجر في مقدمته: «فهذا كتاب صَغُرَ حجمه، وكثر علمه، بحيث لا يوجد نظيره في مجموع... دعاني إليه إغفال كتب الفقه عن أكثر ما فيه، مع مسيس الحاجة إليه». وقد عُني المؤلف بذكر ما ورد في مسائل كتابه من أحاديث نبوية شريفة، مبيِّنًا وجه الدلالة فيها، وأحكام المذهب المتعلقة بها، مع التفصيل والتحرير، وبيان القول المعتمد، ومناقشة أقاويل الفقهاء، ثم العطف بالفروع المتعلقة بتلك المسائل، حتى جاء مجموعًا قيّمًا في بابه بحقّ. اعتمد المحقق في تحقيقه للكتاب على أربع نسخ خطية، أولاها بخط العلامة عبد المعطي بن سالم السملاوي، أحد أعيان الشافعية في وقته.
