هذا الكتاب جديد في مضمونه وفي فصول محتوياته، حيث أن علم الرياضيات علم متجدد، وطرائق التدريس فيه تخضع لأساليب علمية وتربوية حديثة، ومن هنا تنبع أهمية هذا الكتاب ليناقش قضية الطرائق الحديثة لتدريس الرياضيات في مدارسنا العربية.
ولذلك حرص كل الحرص على تقديم أحدث هذه الوسائل للوصول بمدرس هذه المادة بيسر وسهولة إلى مبتغاه، بشكل يفيد منه الطلاب ومتلقو هذا العلم، الذي أصبح يشكل عائقاً كبيراً في وجه طلاب مدارسنا.

وبذلك وصل إلى عمليتي الجمع والطرح، مشيداً إلى مفهوم الجمع وتعليمه، وحقائق الجمع الأساسية، وخوارزمية ومفهوم الجمع والطرح.
ثم انتقل إلى عملية الطرب والقسمة مبتدئ بمفهوم الضرب وحقائقه الأساسية وخوارزمية الضرب ومفهوم القسمة وخوازرمية القسمة والعوامل والمضاعفات.
ثم تحدث عن المهارات الحسابية والحساب الذهني، كالتقريب والتخمين وشرحنا هذين المفهومين وختم الكتاب بخطة كتابة الدرس والدروس النموذية لهذا الموضوع.
