ويشير المؤلف إلى جدار برلين فيقول: جدار برلين كان قد تم اختراقه بالتلفيزيون والأفلام السينمائية قبل زمن طويل من سقوطه في عام 1989، ذاك أن المطارق والجرافات ما كانت لتنتج لولا انتقال الصور المبثوثة من ثقافة الغرب الشعبية على مدى سنوات طوال فاخترقت الجدار قبل أن يسقط.
ويتناول مصادر القوة الناعمة عند أمريكا، فهي أكبر مصدر للأفلام والبرامج التليفزيونية في العالم، وفيها أكثر من 86 ألف باحث أجنبي، وتمثل المرتبة الأولى في الفوز بجوائز نوبل في الفيزياء والكيمياء والاقتصاد، وتنشر كتباً أكثر من أي بلد آخر، ويوجد فيها 28% من بين مليون وست مئة ألف طالب مسجلين في جامعات خارج بلدانهم.
