وفي هذا الكتاب يحاول المؤلفان معالجة التنمية من وجهة نظر جغرافية، ارتكازًا على أربعة محاور رئيسية، الأول نظري يبين تطور الاهتمام بالتنمية جغرافيًا، والثاني منهجي يلقي الضوء على النظريات والمعايير، والثالث تطبيقي يركز على تنمية الريف والحضر، والرابع يستكشف ظروف البيئات الجغرافية ودورها في التنمية.
وقد قام د/ عيسى علي إبراهيم بكتابة القسم الأول والمكون من الفصول الخمسة الأولى المنصبة على موضوع التنمية، وكتب د/ فتحي عبدالعزيز أبو راضي القسم الثاني المعني بالبيئة في الفصلين السادس والسابع.
