يتحدث الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا عن أسس علم النفس التجريبي وذلك من خلال سبعة فصول، الأول منها جاء بعنوان مدخل إلى علم النفس التجريبي، والثاني تناول فلسفة العلوم التجريبية ومناهجها، والثالث عرض لموضوع ظهور علم النفس التجريبي والطرق السيكوفيزيقية، أما الرابع فخصص لتوضيح أهمية التجريب والقياس وعرض الخامس لمناهج البحث وأدواته في علم النفس، وخصص السادس لتصميم التجارب والبحوث النفسية، أما الفصل السابع والأخير فعرض لبعض تجارب التعلم كما وردت في أدبيات علم النفس وتراثه، وفي النهاية ذيل الكتاب بملحق خاص للتجارب والتمارين التي تستخدم عادة في معامل علم النفس.
