تستهدف هذه الدراسة المهمة، البحث في مجمل مسائل وقضايا وأسئلة القصى القصيرة في مصر، طيلة ثلاثين عاماً (1960-1990). فمن جانب تحاول الدراسة تتبع التطور النصي الذي اعتور القصة القصيرة، كما يتجلى في النصوص المعدودة المتنوعة المختارة من كل مرحلة. ومن جانب آخر، تعاين الدراسة التفريعات النوعية للقصة القصيرة (بدءاً بـ "النوفيلا" أو"القصة القصيرة الطويلة" مروراً بتنويعات "قصة تيار ا تستهدف هذه الدراسة المهمة، البحث في مجمل مسائل وقضايا وأسئلة القصى القصيرة في مصر، طيلة ثلاثين عاماً (1960-1990). فمن جانب تحاول الدراسة تتبع التطور النصي الذي اعتور القصة القصيرة، كما يتجلى في النصوص المعدودة المتنوعة المختارة من كل مرحلة. ومن جانب آخر، تعاين الدراسة التفريعات النوعية للقصة القصيرة (بدءاً بـ "النوفيلا" أو"القصة القصيرة الطويلة" مروراً بتنويعات "قصة تيار الوعي" والقصة/اللوحة، وانتهاءً بـ "القصة القصيرة جداً" و"حلقة القصص القصيرة"). وبالأساس تتعامد الدراسة على هدف رئيسي هو اكتشاف حدود تداخل وانخراط الأنواع الأدبية الأخرى (الرواية، الشعر الدراما، المقالة، النادرة، الحكايات الشعبية) في الأنواع الفرعية للقصة القصيرة، بصور مختلفة ومعقدة ومتفاوتة، وذلك باعتماد معيار أولى، يضئ حجم التداخل وصورته، ويتمثل في الثلاثية التقليدية الشهيرة (ملحمي، غنائي، درامي). وقد اختار الدكتور خيري دومة، أن تكون دراسته-في جانبها التطبيقي-دراسة نصية، أي تنطلق من تحليلات "النص" لا تحليلات "النوع" أو تحاول-على الأقل- المحافظة على الحوار الدائم بين "النص المفرد والنوع الجامع". إننا -بهذا الكتاب-نضيف إسهاماً نوعياً ومتميزاً في تحليل معضلات القصة القصيرة، ذلك النوع الأدبي المراوغ والمنفلت والحساس.
