"موسم الهجرة إلى الشمال" هي رواية الكاتب السوداني الطيب الصالح، أما "نظرية ما بعد الإستعمار" فواحدة من نظريات ال "ما بعد": ما بعد البنيوية، وما بعد الحداثة، وما بعد الإستعمار... بين الموضوعين علاقات بديهية وواضحة. تعد هذه الدراسة واحدة من محاولات التدقيق في موقع رواية "موسم الهجرة إلى الشمال" وسط ما بات يعرف بنظرية ما بعد الإستعمار. تلك النظرية التي اجتهدت في تتبع العلاقة بين المستعمَر والمستعمِر كما تجلت في عديد الأعمال الأدبية التي كتبها مبدعو المستعمرات فقبل زوال الإستعمار وظهور النظرية، وبعد ذلك.
ثمة علاقات على ما يرى .. "خيري دومة": أكثر عمقاً وأشد تعقيداً؛ فالرواية- التي سبقت النظرية - كانت بمثابة دراسة إستكشافية، اعتمدت طاقات الفن الروائي، لترسم صورة مركبة للآثار اللاوعية التي تركتها حركة الإستعمار أو بعدها. أما نظرية "ما بعد الإستعمار"، التي تبلورت تماما في عقدي الثمانينات والتسعينات من القرن العشرين فقد نهضت على أكتاف مجموعة من المثقفين المنفيين ... الذين هاجروا، تماما مثلما هاجر مصطفى سعيد والرواي والطيب الصالح نفسه، من الجنوب إلى الشمال ... .
ولأهمية هذا الموضوعان (الرواية والنظرية) جاءت هذه الدراسة لتتحرى العلاقة ما بين "موسم الهجرة ونظرية ما بعد الإستعمار" وهي العلاقة التي يحاول الكاتب رصدها وتحليلها بوصفها علاقة متبادلة؛ فكل منهما برأيه يبدو كأنه صدى للآخر، رغم المسافة الزمنية التي بينهما، ولكنها تبقى "توصيفا حقيقيا للحالة الإشكالية التي يمثلها مثقفو ما بعد الإستعمار ومنظروه".
