عندما نقول بملامح حقيقية فإننا لا نقول إن ملامحه مُؤَسلبة أو مُشفَّرة بصفته رمزاً لملك كما كانت العادة في فن بلاد الرافدين، وبدرج لعلّ بورتريه السومري غوديا المنحوت هو أول بورتريه بملامح حقيقية لشخص حقيقي في تأريخ البشرية . هنا موضوع للبحث والمتعة. هذه الحقيقة ، لو كانت حقيقة بالفعل ، لا تقال في تأريخ الفن الرسمي . يقال بالأحرى إن أول بورتريه لشخص حقيقي ظهر في عصر النهضة .
عندما نقول بملامح حقيقية فإننا لا نقول إن ملامحه مُؤَسلبة أو مُشفَّرة بصفته رمزاً لملك كما كانت العادة في فن بلاد الرافدين، وبدرجة أكبر الفن الفرعوني: أنها ملامحه نفسها رغم الأسلوب التشكيلي الرافديني الظاهر في البورتريه . كان معقود الحاجبين وحليق الشعر لأنه (كاهن - ملك) . ويظهر غالباً بعصابة رأس.
لا يقال غالباً أن تماثيل غوديا هي أوائل البورتريهات المعروفة في تأريخ الفن ، يقول الأمر باحثون قلائل في السومريات.
يخرج باحث أمريكي بهذه النتيجة بصدد أحد تماثيل غوديا: "التمثال يجعل غوديا أول إنسان في التاريخ نعرف بالضبط كيف كان يبدو. ليس ما كان يبدو عليه "نوعاً ما" ، ولكن بالضبط وبصفته أول إنسان معروف في كل التاريخ ، يعد التمثال أهم تمثال في العالم اليوم "
