يُعتبر هذا الكتاب لكُل مسلم بمثابة الحُجة الدامغة في الوقت الذي أشتدت فيه الحرب على الإسلام، ورداً قوياً علّى كل من يتطاول ويتهم دين الإسلام بالتَطُرف أو الإرهاب، على الرغم من أن هذا الدين ما جاء إلا ليدعو للسلام والتسامح كما قال الحق سبحانه ﴿ادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَجَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ﴾، وأراد المستشار الهضيبَي خلال تناوله لهذا الكتاب أن يُبيّن أن وظيفة الداعية هي الدعوة إلى الإسلام فقط، وليس الحكم على الناس، كما يرى الهضيبي أيضاً أن الحكم على الناس من وظيفة القاضي وليس من وظيفة الداعية.
وتعمّق المؤلف أيضاً في قضية الإيمان والكفر ووصفها بأنها من أخطر قضايا الوجود، وأن الخوض فيها دون علم أو برهان أمر عظيم يجب الإحتراس والإنتباه إليه وعلى الفرد أن ألا يشغل نفسه إلا بنفسه والدعوة إلى الله تعالى وليس بالحكم على الآخرين مستدلاً على ذلك من الكتاب والسُنة.
