على الرغم من اهتمام العراق بالوثائق لم يصل إلى ما وصلت إليه الدول الأخرى بسبب خضوعه الطويل للحكم العثماني من جهة وللسيطرة البريطانية من جهة أخرى ومع ذلك فإن الموجود فيه من الوثائق يفوق ما لدى الدول الأخرى المجاورة بحكم تأسيس الحكم الوطني فيه منذ عام1958
وهنا يجب أن نتذكر أن معظم المؤرخين والأكاديميين في القرن العشرين قد تخرجوا من جامعات أكاديمية عالمية مرموقة منذ ثلاثينيات على الرغم من اهتمام العراق بالوثائق لم يصل إلى ما وصلت إليه الدول الأخرى بسبب خضوعه الطويل للحكم العثماني من جهة وللسيطرة البريطانية من جهة أخرى ومع ذلك فإن الموجود فيه من الوثائق يفوق ما لدى الدول الأخرى المجاورة بحكم تأسيس الحكم الوطني فيه منذ عام1958
وهنا يجب أن نتذكر أن معظم المؤرخين والأكاديميين في القرن العشرين قد تخرجوا من جامعات أكاديمية عالمية مرموقة منذ ثلاثينيات ذلك القرن وازداد دورهم في الحياة الثقافية والتعليمية العراقية عقدا بعد عقد ولهم الفضل الكبير في توجيه أنظار جامعة بغداد بعد تأسيسها عام 1958 إلى لفت أنظار المسؤولين في الوزارات العراقية المختلفة للاهتمام بالسجلات والوثائق القديمة
