انتقل في يناير 1984 من القاهرة إلى فيينـّا حيث يقيم الآن.
تخرج في العام 1997 في جامعة الاقتصاد بفيينـّا بدرجة الدكتوراه في العلوم الاجتماعية والاقتصادية.
- يعمل حاليًا كمدرس ومحاضر في جامعة فيينا وجامعة جراتس وجامعة كريمس.
- نشر في دوريات وأنطولوجيات في أكثر من عشرين عاصمة عربية وأوروبية.
كما شارك في العديد المهرجانات الأدبية العالمية مثل: السويد، سويسرا، إيطاليا، هولندا، أوكرانيا، ايرلندا، سورية، الشارقة، مصر، مقدونيا، فرنسا والنمسا.
- له أحد عشر عملا منشورا بالعربية، آخرها رواية "الرحلة 797 المتجهة إلى فيينا"، القاهرة 2014، "محطات من السيرة الذاتية" سيرة، القاهرة 2012، رواية ”بيت النخيل“، القاهرة طبعة ثالثة 2012، كما له خمسة أعمال مترجمة للألمانية وترجمات أخرى للفرنسية والانجليزية والإيطالية والإسبانية وغيرها.
- حاصل على عدة منح أدبية من النمسا آخرها منحة ”إلياس كانيتّي“ الكبرى لعام 2005 - حاصل على الجائزة العالمية الكبرى في الشعر، رومانيا، 2007 - تم تعيينه في عام 2008 كسفير للنمسا لعام الحوار الثقافي.
- حاصل على وسام الجمهورية النمساوية عام 2008

لا تدري السر الذي جعلها تفتح هذه الغرفة البعيدة المغلقة في بيت آدم. لم تكن فضولية ولم تفعل هذا من قبل حتى في بيت أعز صديقاتها. هو أيضا لا يدري لماذا لم ينطق بحرف واحد ليوقفها أو حتى يومئ ليمنعها برفق، وهو يعرف أن هذه الغرفة هي الوحيدة في بيته التي يغلقها ولا يسمح بدخول أي كائن إليها سوى “إيزيس” قطته الوديعة. تدخل ليلى وتقف منبهرة في حجرة تبدو لها غير عادية، حجرة حية ذات رو لا تدري السر الذي جعلها تفتح هذه الغرفة البعيدة المغلقة في بيت آدم. لم تكن فضولية ولم تفعل هذا من قبل حتى في بيت أعز صديقاتها. هو أيضا لا يدري لماذا لم ينطق بحرف واحد ليوقفها أو حتى يومئ ليمنعها برفق، وهو يعرف أن هذه الغرفة هي الوحيدة في بيته التي يغلقها ولا يسمح بدخول أي كائن إليها سوى “إيزيس” قطته الوديعة. تدخل ليلى وتقف منبهرة في حجرة تبدو لها غير عادية، حجرة حية ذات روح، يدخلها المرء فتحتضنه بحنان، وتشعره بإحساس طمأنينة وأمان ونسيان لكل العالم خارجها.
