رحلت والدتي قبل صدور هذه الرواية بأسابيع قليلة. كنت، خلال الأيام الثلاثة الأخيرة، التي قضيتها بجانبها في غرفة العناية المركزة،، أراقب الموت وهو يجوب الأمكنة؛ يخطو فوق الأسرة البيضاء، يحدق في الوجوه المزرقة، والأجساد التي ثقبتها الأنابيب وانتشرت في عروقها الذابلة، المحاليل والأدوية. لم يكن طنين الأجهزة التي تحصي على أنصاف الموتى دقائقهم الأخيرة في هذه الحياة، ليعيقني عن تحس رحلت والدتي قبل صدور هذه الرواية بأسابيع قليلة. كنت، خلال الأيام الثلاثة الأخيرة، التي قضيتها بجانبها في غرفة العناية المركزة،، أراقب الموت وهو يجوب الأمكنة؛ يخطو فوق الأسرة البيضاء، يحدق في الوجوه المزرقة، والأجساد التي ثقبتها الأنابيب وانتشرت في عروقها الذابلة، المحاليل والأدوية. لم يكن طنين الأجهزة التي تحصي على أنصاف الموتى دقائقهم الأخيرة في هذه الحياة، ليعيقني عن تحسس الموت واستشعار قدومه.
في تلك الساعات وعلى نحو محير، أعدت التفكير في كثير من الأشياء التي لايمكن للمرء أن يقف على حقيقتها، إلا حين تصطف بجوهرها، في منتص المسافة بينه وبين الموت.
يبدو أن هذه الرواية تقتص من قارئها، بطريقتها الخاصة
