يمثل هذا الكتاب في الأصل أطروحة أكاديمية نال بها مؤلفها درجة الدكتوراة من إحدى الجامعات البريطانية.
لا يدعي المؤلف - منذ العنوان حتى السطر الأخير - أنه يدرس "شعر" كفافي, فهي مهمة يدرك صعوبتها الشديدة لتعدد أبعاد التجربة الشعرية, التي يستحق كل منها دراسة قائمة بذاتها. ويكتفي بتقرير أنه يدرس أحد هذه البعاد فحسب : شعرية كفافي
