يتضمن هذا المجلد النصين الرسميين للبروتوكولين الإضافيين لاتفاقيات جنيف المعقودة في 12 آب/ أغسطس 1949 ، كما اعتمدتهما في 8 حزيران/يونيو 1977 المؤتمر الدبلوماسي لتأكيد وتطوير القانون الدولي الإنساني المطبق في المنازعات المسلحة (جنيف 1974 – 1977). كما يتضمن مقتطفات من الوثيقة الختامية للمؤتمر، ونصوص القرارات الجوهرية المعتمدة في الدورة الرابعة عام 1977 .
وأودعت الوثيقة الختامي يتضمن هذا المجلد النصين الرسميين للبروتوكولين الإضافيين لاتفاقيات جنيف المعقودة في 12 آب/ أغسطس 1949 ، كما اعتمدتهما في 8 حزيران/يونيو 1977 المؤتمر الدبلوماسي لتأكيد وتطوير القانون الدولي الإنساني المطبق في المنازعات المسلحة (جنيف 1974 – 1977). كما يتضمن مقتطفات من الوثيقة الختامية للمؤتمر، ونصوص القرارات الجوهرية المعتمدة في الدورة الرابعة عام 1977 .
وأودعت الوثيقة الختامية التي أرفق بها البروتوكولان لدى مجلس الاتحاد السويسري، أمين إيداع اتفاقيات عام 1949 .دخل البروتوكولان الأول والثاني حيز النفاذ في 7 ديسمبر 1978.
يتضمن هذا المجلد أيضًا النص الرسمي للبروتوكول الإضافي لاتفاقيات جنيف المعقودة في 12 آب/ أغسطس 1949 ، والمتعلق باعتماد شارة مميزة إضافية (البروتوكول الثالث)، المعتمد في 8 كانون الأول/ ديسمبر2005.
دخل البروتوكول الثالث حيز النفاذ في 14 كانون الثاني/ يناير 2007.بلغ عدد الدول التي وافقت على الالتزام بالبروتوكول الأول 169 دولة وبالبروتوكول الثاني 165 دولة وبالبروتوكول الثالث 52 دولة وذلك حتى 1 نيسان/ أبريل 2010.
