تناولت في هذا الموضوع وجهة نظر ابن رشد في العالم من منظور الفلسفة الطبيعية، وكان لابد لي من عرض الأسس العامة والمبادئ الكلية التي يمكن على أساسها تفسير موجودات العالم وظواهره قبل تناول عناصره وأجزائه وظواهره كما تناولها ابن رشد، وما ذلك إلا لأن ابن رشد حين درس العالم دراسة طبيعية إنما كانت نظرته هي نظرة الفيلسوف العالم الذي يسعى إلى البحث عن الأسباب الكلية التي تحكم الكون وتفسر ظواهره، لا نظرة العالم الذي يبحث في الجزئيات، غير حافل بما وراءها من أسباب بعيدة.
ولذا فقد قسمت بحثي إلى خمسة فصول: تناولت في الفصل الأول مبادئ موجودات العالم ولواحقها وعللها مؤكدة اهتمام ابن رشد بمفهوم السببية من وجهة نظره الفيزيقية... وتناولت في الفصل الثاني وموضوعه "عالم ما فوق فلك القمر" آراء ابن رشد الفلكية فيما يتعلق بطبيعة هذا العالم وأحكامه وحركاته وخصائص أفلاكه... وفي الفصل الثالث والذي يحمل عنوان "عالم الكون والفساد" يسميه ابن رشد... وفي الفصل الرابع تناولت الظواهر الطبيعية في العالم، والكائنات اللاحية فيه... أما الفصل الخامس فقد تناولت فيه دراسات ابن رشد عن النفس والكائنات الحية من نبات وحيوان وإنسان وكيف درسها ابن رشد وفق نظام تدريجي يبدأ من أبسط الكائنات وأبسط قوى النفوس إلى أرقامها.
ثم أظهرت في خاتمة الدراسة كيف كانت آراء ابن رشد في هذا المجال الطبيعي لها الأثر الكبير على مفكري النهضة في أوروبا خاصة "روجر بيكون" ومن بعده "فرنسيس بيكون" أصحاب المنهج الاستقرائي الجديد.
