إن أبرز وقائع الكتاب تم يقع الكتاب في ثمانية فصول: الأول حول القرية الشامل، والثاني حول السجل الاستعماري، والثالث حول مؤسسات في مأزق، والرابع حول يد المانحين الخفية، والخامس حول سراب السلام الاقتصادي، والسادس بعنوان:' غزة التوحيد المستحيل'، والسابع بعنوان:'رام الله في الحلم'التشابه بالبندورة الكرزية الصغيرة'، وأخيرا الفصل الثامن بعنوان:'رام الله في الحلم:تقهر عملية السلام'.
إن أبرز وقائع الكتاب تمثلت في قضية بناء الدولة الفلسطينية وكان المؤلف يحاول أن يرصد عملية التغيير في رام الله وفي الأراضي الفلسطينية بشكل عام وتصوير الأمر هناك دولة تقوم وهناك اقتصاد يزدهر، وكان يحاول الإجابة على سؤال هل هناك دولة تقوم وهل هناك مؤسسات تمارس دورها بالشكل المنتظر منها، بالإضافة إلى محاولة لتسليط الضوء على الأماكن التي شكلت تاريخ مدينة رام الله، والتي كانت تعد مصيفا لسكان فلسطين والدول العربية المجاورة'.
وبارت هو صحفي في صحيفة لوموند الفرنسية وعمره 39 عاما، وهو متخصص بقضايا الشرق الأوسط وكان مراسلا في رام الله منذ عام 2002 إلى 2011، وقد حاز على جائزة ألبير لندن عام 2008.
