يقتصر كتاب "الأعمال النثرية" للشاعر الفلسطيني الراحل محمود درويش على تجميع الأعمال النثرية وشيئا مما كتبه درويش من مقالات وخواطر ورسائل خلال عقود من القرن الماضي. ويظهر في الكتاب تمسك درويش بهويته العربية الفلسطينية، وتأكيده على أن الاحتلال مهما عمل لن يستطيع مسح الذاكرة الفلسطينية، إضافة إلى إشادته بالصمود والمقاومة العملية للاحتلال بوسائلها المختلفة. ويشعر القارئ في كثير من الكتابات التي دونت قبل عشرات السنين، أنها كتبت في الوقت الحاضر. يتضمن الكتاب عددا كبيرا من الأعمال النثرية لمحمود درويش خلال حياته. وتتناول الكتابات في غالبيتها قضايا وأحداث ومواقف تتعلق بمناسبات اجتماعية وثقافية وسياسية مختلفة عايشها الكاتب. لكن الأعمال النثرية تركز على الهم الفلسطيني في ظل الاحتلال بشكل عام، والعنصرية والتحديات التي يواجهها الفلسطينيون في الداخل وفشل محاولات "أسرلتهم" وتمسكهم بهويتهم الثقافية والعربية.
