سعى الباحث إلى تحليل ظاهرة الأمن الغذائي العربي، ومكونات هذه الظاهرة، من حيث تفسير المتضمنات الاقتصادية لها، وتشخيص السياسة الاقتصادية الكلية المؤدية إلى شيوع الظاهرة وتأصيلها في الاقتصاد العربي عبر النصف الثاني من هذا القرن، ومحاولة إيجاد المعالجات الاقتصادية لتقليص هذه الظاهرة وتعظيم منافعها. وقد افترض الباحث أن مسببات إشكالية الأمن الغذائي العربي تكمن في العديد من المتغيرات، ويأتي في مقدمتها ضعف الترابط بين الاقتصاديات العربية. وخلص الباحث من هذه الدراسة إلى استنتاجات وتوصيات عدة مؤداها أن الاحتمالات المستقبلية لأوضاع الأمن الغذائي العربي تتسم بالتشاؤم، ويوصي الباحث بضرورة أخذ الاحتياطات اللازمة غذائيا والمتعلقة ببعض التغيرات مثل: إصلاح القطاع الزراعي في بعض الدول العربية، والاتجاه نحو النسبية في إنتاج المحاصيل الغذائية والاهتمام بالكفاءة التنافسية للمحاصيل الزراعية، وتطبيق سياسات تطوير الموارد الزراعية، واعتماد استراتيجية للتخزين على الصعيدين القطري والقومي لمواجهة الصدمات الغذائية التي قد تحدث في الأسواق العالمية للغذاء، والسعي نحو إنتاج السلع الغذائية البديلة.
