"الشيخ عبادة" هي رواية للمؤلف ماهر فرغلي، وتدور أحداثها إلى حد كبير في الفترة الزمنية التي احتلت فيها العراق الكويت وعودة العمالة المصرية ونشأة الجماعة الإسلامية، ومحاولة الحوار داخل السجون مع الجماعات الإسلامية، وفشلها ثم بدء العنف وتأثيره على الأقباط في القرية. كما تسلسلت الرواية وتتابعت في لافتات متحركة استخدمت فيها بعض الأحداث التاريخية وأعطت للقارئ إطلالة على سلوك صدام والسجون في العراق ومقارنتها بالسجون في مصر. وتطرقت الرواية لكيفية نشأة الجماعات الإسلامية في قرية مصرية وكيفية دخول الأفراد فيها والأسباب التي دفعتهم لذلك، ومن ثم كيف انتشرت الجماعة، والجيل الثاني من الشباب وصراعه مع الجماعة وأقباط مصر والمهجر، وتلك النشأة المشابهة للجماعة الإسلامية ثم العنف ونهايته.
