أفقنا على صوت السائق، الذي نبّهنا إلى كمين البدو، الذين أحاطوا بالسيارة، وهم يحملون الأسلحة الآلية، محدّقين فينا لدقائق، ثم أشاروا إلينا بالمرور، فتنفسنا الصعداء، كأنّ الحياة كُتبت لنا من جديد... ساعتها كانت صيحاتُ المتظاهرين تهزّ ميدان التحرير والميادين المصرية، وكان الجهاديون يخططون لبناء تنظيماتهم، ويعيدون تشكيلها من جديد، حتى أنها بلغت في سيناء فقط تسعة عشر تنظيماً، إضافة إلى العدد نفسه تقريباً الذي نشأ في باقي المحافظات المصرية...
الشيء السيء أنه لم يعد لدى الغالبية القدرة على فهم تلك التنظيمات، ولا معرفة خارطتها التفصيلية... لذا فرضنا على أنفسنا أن نرصد، بدقّة، خارطة إنتشار تلك الجماعات، ونسير بين المدقات الجبلية المتعرجة من أجل لقاءات متنوعة بدأت بقيادات التنظيمات الجهادية، ثم نعود منها للقاء قيادات التنظيمات الذين حرصوا على نصب خيام يتلقّون فيها البيعات في ميادين مصر، وكذلك المنشقون، ثم الرحلة الطويلة إلى مقار القيادات التنظيمية ومنازلهم، أو اللقاء بهم في ساحة القضاء المصري.
لقد وصلنا إلى جزء كبير من الحقيقة، ثم أكملناها بالحصول على سبعين ألف ورقة من أوراق التحقيقات من المقبوض عليهم، وإعترافات الجهاديين، وأعضاء اللجان النوعية المسلحة، فكان هذا الكتاب الذي قدمناه لله، وللوطن، وللتاريخ، وللباحثين عن الحقيقة، حتى يعرفوا ما عرفناه تفصيلياً، وما بذلنا فيه كان جهداً كبيراً، عن تلك التنظيمات، التي لا تزال، حتى كتابة هذه السطور، ترتكب عمليات إرهابية شنيعة.
