في جديده الأدبي "القادمون والمغادرون" يستهل الشاعر وليد خلفان الشعيلي نصه بنثيرة رؤية شخصية يقول فيها (كلمة أولى): هذه الكلمات انعكاس لكثير من أعماقي .. وسواد دنياي .. وأفكاري .. وتجاربي .. وحكاياتي .. وحياتي .. وأحلامي التي سافرت بلا عودة .. رغم أنها أحلام متواضعة وبسيطة". من هذه العتبة ندرك ثقل الإحساس بالألم الذي يتلبس الشاعر، والذي يجعل منه مادته الأولية فيما يكتب، فنراه يتحرك دون توقف، فهو كالشلال الهادر يحاول كسر الرتابة في النص الشعري، محولاً القارىء إلى مشهدية بانورامية تنقله من واحة إلى أخرى، محركاً أسراره الساكنة بأصابعه كي ينسج بالشعر حركة لا يمكن إيقافها أبداً، وتجربة متفردة، نفهمها كلما توغلنا في قراءة نصه:
تحت عنوان "سجل الوفاة الذي يخصني" يقول الشعيلي: "لا تلومونني على هذا السرد السوداوي الذي تتبعه أصوات طبول اليأس تقرع قرعاً مدوياً وصدى القسوة يتردد من بعيد .. من هناك .. من خلف البنايات الشاهقة والمزارع المنتشرة على أطراف قريتي (...) لا تلومونني فقد مررت بأحزان وبقصص لا ترغب في النسيان .. تجارب وأماكن عشت فيها وتعلقت بها وبناسها وبنسائها وشوارعها .. وافتقدتها ...". وسط هذا الركام من تجارب الحياة وأسئلتها تأتي نصوص المجموعة في نسيج إيقاعي شفاف تهيمن عليه أجواء الحزن والتشاؤم، وضمن مقاطع شعرية تحمل رشاقة المعنى وتأثيثه وكثافة بنيته، فالنص عند الشاعر الشعيلي يأتي من خلال محمولات لغوية مغلفة بمسار تراجيدي، وهو متأتي مما مرّ به من محن وصعوبات على أقل تقدير.
