عبر أزمنة الحياة كانت السلوى للأرواح أبيات شعريه يرويها الشعراء في مطالع الغرام للحبيبة وكانت أبيات مما يهيم به العاشق في محبوبته صابرًا على وجع الفقد وألم الشوق وحزن وكمد اللوعة في بعدها كالنار المتشظية تلتهب عاطفة ثائره هائجه تتلاطم في قلبه حنين ذكراها لا يخمده النسيان ولا يجفف منابعه الفراق حسبي اني فيها متيم وان العمر في هواءها غير كافيا احبها لستُ أدري كالضرير أساق للمنايا ومما يذكر للحبيبة في شعر الغزل أن الحبيب وصفها بالعذراء في طهر قلبها لم يدنسها غدر أو خيانه فهي الخليلة في البيداء يرى وجهها القمر والسحابة في جوف السماء ويعلل نفسه أمنية اللقاء بها والظفر بمحبوبته من ذا يشفع بيني وبينها ويخلي للعاشقين سبيل من ذا عني يبلغها ان الشوق غائب أسرف بالرحيل.
