تحت عنوان "مهارات اللغة العربية: المستوى الثاني" يقدم أ.د. محمد جهاد جمل ود. نزيه العودات كتاباً هو بمثابة محاولة لتمكين الطالب الجامعي من اللغة العربية في مستوى متقدم وومارستها وظيفياً، وليس وصفها بهدف النجاح في الإمتحان، وهو فضاء لاكتشاف المواهب، وتربية الإبداع عن طريق حث الطالب والقارىء على مباشرة إنتاج قصة أو مقالة أو غيرها من الأجناس الأدبية، وتذوق اللغة واكتشاف أسرار بيان وبديع لغتنا الأم – اللغة العربية – التي هي لغة القرآن الكريم.
يتألف الكتاب من ثلاثة عشرة وحدة، اختصت كل وحدة بمهارة محددة تعريفاً وشرحاً وتدريباً على الأنواع الأدبية المختلفة وتبدأ الوحدة الأولى بعرض: لآيات من سور الأعراف، أما الوحدة الثانية فهي عرض لنماذج عن الحكاية المرحة عند العرب. والوحدة الثالثة عن المقالة الصحفية .. الكتابة الصحفية، والوحدة الرابعة: في صلب العمل الصحافي (وظائف المقال الصحفي، أنواعه، مواصفاته ... وغيرها). والوحدة الخامسة: التمدن والرقي: عن دور النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم في تحضر العرب. الوحدة السادسة: الرقي والتمدن: العمارة في الأندلس ووصف العمارة في الشعر الأندلسي. الوحدة السابعة: القراءة للفهم، والقراءة الناقدة. الوحدة الثامنة: أصول التعريب (مفهوم التعريب، طرائقه، شروطه، والفرق بين الترجمة والتعريب). الوحدة التاسعة: التحدث والحوار وفن الإقناع. الوحدة العاشرة: عرض قصيدة (في غرناطة ميلادي – نزار قباني). الوحدة الحادية عشرة: فتنة الصورة: مكونات الصورة الفنية وشروط التصوير الفني والصورة في تراثنا النقدي، والوحدة الثانية عشرة وفيها التمكن: دراسة صورة بلاغية في نص أدبي مع أمثلة، ثم عرض عن: الخصائص الأسلوبية في النص: التشبيهات والإستعارات والألفاظ والتراكيب والأساليب الخبرية والإنشائية وغيرها. والوحدة الثالثة عشرة وعنوانها "البحث في الجامعة" وفيها عرض معايير البحث العلمي الجيد. وأخيراً: ملحق (مباحث نحوية) ويضم نماذج وتدريبات وفوائد لغوية شتى.
