هذا الكتاب مؤلف من قسمين: القسم الأول هو مجموعة دراسات متخصصة فلسفياً سبق نشرها محورياً في دوريات عربية ولا سيما ما هو منها فصلي ومحكم مثل مجلة "الفكر العربي" البيروتية خاصة وذلك منذ بدايات العقد الأخير. والكتاب يعالج من زاوية اختصاصية نسبياً بعض أهم قضايا العالم " الوطن" العربي وقضايا العصر الكبرى (المشكلات الكبرى أو "العولمية" أو "العالمية الشاملة") ويرصد أيضاً علاقة الفلسفة بالعلم كلاً وكذلك تفصيلا (لاسيما في مجال تصنيفات ونماذج وآفاق هذه العلاقة) كما يهتم الكتاب بالأبعاد البيئية (الإيكولوجية) والأنطولوجية (الوجودية) لحياة الإنسان والبشرية إجمالاً. إنه بإيجاز كتاب يجمع المتعة بالفائدة ويجيب على تساؤلات ملحة وراهنة يطرحها عصرنا حاضراً ومستقبلاً. أما القسم الثاني مكون من جزئين متمايزين نسبياً: أولهما يتناول مشكلات العصر الكبرى بطيفها الأوسع وهي مشكلات ارتبطت أساساً بظاهرة الكوكبة "العولمة" والثاني يركز على الجوانب الاجتماعية السياسية من قضايا العصر الشاملة وببعديها العالمي والعربي ويبقى القاسم المشترك هو الاهتمام بمشكلات ماكروسوسيولوجية عامة ملحة وراهنة. أفكار الجزء الأول تبلورت منذ ما يقارب العقدين أما أفكار الجزء الثاني فقد ارتسمت معالمها منذ ما يزيد على العقد. إن الكتاب الحالي بجزءيه يساهم بشكل مكثف في تكوين تصورات أشمل وأعمق حول عصرنا الراهن ومشكلاته المتنوعة "بجذورها وآفاقها المقبلة" ويرسم لوحة متكاملة لقضايا العالم المعاصر الساخنة منهجياً ونظرياً ومضموناً وبصورة متداخلة.
