نبذة النيل والفرات: المدينة المنورة، مدينة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أول مدينة عربية إسلامية، مرت بمراحل عديدة قبل أن تتطور وتكون على ما هي عليه الآن، تقع المدينة في الحجاز على هضبة تتدرج ببطء في الاتجاه الشمالي يحدها من المشال جبل أحد، ومن الشمال الغربي جبل سلع ومن الجنوب الغربي جبل عير والذي يقع على حوالي أربعة كيلومترات من مركزها الحالي, أما من الشرق فيتخذها مجموعة من الحراّت التي تتكون من صخور بازلية. وفي هذا الكتاب يقدم المؤلف وهو خبير للتراث الحضاري بمشروع تخطيط المدينة المنورة دراسة لخصائص المدينة وللمراحل التاريخية التي تعاقبت عليها وعملت على تحديد شكلها ومعالمها في كل فترة. كما يقدم في هذا الكتاب تحليلاً هندسياً للتراث الحضاري المعماري بالمدينة يهدف تبيان خصائص ومميزات هذه العمارة وقد استند المؤلف في دراسته على المراجع والمصادر العربية مثل كتاب وفاء الوفاء للسمهودي الذي عاش بالمدينة منذ عام 873هـ/1468م، وغيرها من الدراسات المعتمدة والقيمة.
