يركز هذا الكتاب على الإبداعات الموروثة وإنجازات الحفاظ وإعادة التأهيل عربياً محاولاً من خلالها التعريف بالتراث والموقف منه والأضرار التي تهدده من حروب وغيرها؟ وأي التراث تحافظ عليه ونعيد تأهيله؟ ولماذا؟ وكيف؟ بما يجعل عمارتنا ذات طابع مميز وهوية تاريخية واضحة.
وقد تم إعتماد مفردة "الموروث" في هذا الكتاب لتعبر بصدق عن الكيان المادي الفيزياوي لكل ما وصلنا من منجزات الماضي آثاراً وتراثاً، سواء منها من بلغ عمره آلاف السنين أو من لم يتجاوز مئات السنين مؤكدين حظوة ما ترك العرب المسلمون من عمائر ومفاخر للأحفاد.
فكان تأليف هذا الكتاب مع تقسيمه إلى عدة فصول تناولت الموروث والحفاظ، وكيفية الحفاظ "Conservation" على الموروث، وإعادة تأهيله "Rehabilitation" والإنجازات العربية بشكل خاص في الحفاظ على الموروث العمراني الحضري مع إعادة تأهيل هذا الموروث في العراق وسورية ولبنان وليبيا والسعودية والمغرب العربي وتونس ومصر، وغيرها من الدول العربية، ثم تناول الكتاب بعض الإنجازات العربية للحفاظ وإعادة التأهيل الموروث المعماري في عدة مدن عربية.
ولا بد من القول أن هذا الكتاب لم يوثق إلا الجزء اليسير من الإنجازات العربية في هذا الحفاظ وإعادة التأهيل، إلا أنه اهتم بدقة في إختيار ذلك اليسير ليكون معبراً عن الأفكار المهمة التي تعرضت لها موضوعات الكتاب وحاول مناقشتها وإيصالها للقراء، كما حرص أن يكون ذلك اليسير محيطاً بنماذج عديدة في مدن عربية تتموضع في كافة أرجاء الوطن العربي، خاصة وأن أغلب تلك النماذج تم تصويرها بعدسة المؤلفة.
