أديب ظلمه قومه ولم يتلف إليه الدارسون والباحثون في الجزائر.. وفي حدود علمي لم يُشر إليه إلا الدكتور "عبد المالك مرتاض" في أحد كتبه.. هو "ذاك المجهول" كما ورد في دراسات كثيرة، رائد الفن الساخر والنقد اللاذع، هو أبو عبد الله محمد بن محرز بن محمد الوهراني، الملقب بركن الدين، وقيل: جمال الدين، من مدينة وهران بغرب الجزائر، طاف أقطارا عربية عديدة واستقر به المقام بدمشق، توفي بداريَّا سنة خمس وسبعين وخمسمائة (575هـ) أيام صلاح الدين الأيوبي، ودفن. ترك الوهراني نصوصا نثرية في صورة منامات ومقامات ورسائـل وخطـب، جمعـها كتابه"جليس كل ظريف"، وقد حققه إبراهيم شعلان ومحمد نغش تحت عنوان: "منامـات الوهراني ومقاماته ورسائله"، وراجعه الدكتور عبد العزيز الأهواني، وصدر عن دار الكاتب العربـي فـي القاهرة عام 1968م، يتألف من مائتين وسبع وثلاثين صفحة من الحجم المتوسط.
