Book Description
قال ابن خلكان في "وفيات الأعيان"، وهو يترجم للوهراني: "أحد الفضلاء الظرفاء، عدل عن طريق الجد وسلك طريق الهزل، وعمل المنامات والرسائل المشهورة به، وفيها دلالة على خفة روحه ورقة حاشيته وكمال ظرفه، ولو لم يكن له فيها إلا المنام الكبير لكفاه، فإنه أتى فيه بكل حلاوة، ولولا طوله لذكرته".
ثم ترجم له الصفدي في كتابه "فوات الوفيات"، فقال: "أحد ظرفاء العالم وأدبائهم. سلك ذاك المنهج الحلو والأنموذج الظريف وعمل المنام المشهور، وعلى الجملة فما كاد يسلم من شر لسانه أحد ممن عاصره، ومن طالع ترسله وقف على العجائب والغرائب".
وقال الدكتور سهيل زكار في تقديمه: أجاد أخي أبو فراس في عمل كتاب الوهراني المهم تحقيقاً ودراسة، وأخرج، أو لأقل أعاد إخراج الكتاب ضبطاً وشرحاً، ولا شك أنه سيكون لكتاب الوهراني فائدة عظيمة في إخراجه منفرداً مع الدراسة الوافية حول حياته ونشاطاته، ومع الشروح الضرورية للاصطلاحات المتنوعة.
وقال الدكتور منذر الحايك في دراسته: إن أهمية كتابات الوهراني الحقيقية تنبع من أهمية عصره وما جرى فيه من التحولات السياسية والمذهبية والاجتماعية، وكشفه العديد من الأمراض الاجتماعية: الرشوة واغتصاب المال العام واللواطة والزنا وجلسات المجون التي كان يشارك فيها قضاة وأمراء وتجار، كما أعطانا فكرة عن مشكلات الجواري والغلمان. وهذه كلها أمور كانت شائعة ولكن الأدب الرسمي يسكت عنها.
والمدهش في كل ما كتب الوهراني هو جرأته المستغربة في ذلك الزمان، فقد كتب بلهجة من لا يخشى سلطة وزير أو أمير.
