وضاع عمري مهما قيل أنها تصور شخوصا قد تركوا أثراً في الكاتب، فإنها تعكس جانباً من شخصية الكاتب نفسه وكما يبدو من الإهداء فإن هذه القصص مهداة إلى كل امرأة ارتوت من رحيق الإيمان وهي تؤكد على تلك الجوانب التربوية الخيرة التي تجعل من المرأة شريكة الرجل وحاملة همومه. وزينب هنا هي مثال المرأة المتمسكة بعاداتها وتقاليدها التي تحرص على القيام بواجباتها:"تتنقل بين أرجاء المنزل بخفة الغزال تلبي رغباتنا جميعاً...، فهي تشعر بسعادة منقطعة النظير وهي تتودد إلينا وتقوم بشؤوننا والسهر على راحتنا". وتعكس القصص أيضاً الصراع بين قيم راسخة في المجتمع وبين قيم أخرى مستوردة وما يولده ذلك من صراع بين جيلين أو ثقافتين ويتبدى ذلك في صراع الجدة مع نادية "ذات يوم رأتها استعدت للخروج، فقالت لها: نادية.. نعم بعصبية، تعالي يا ابنتي أود أن أتحدث إليك، فقالت نادية بوقاحة: ماذا عساك أن تحدثني به سوى الأسطوانة التي أسمعها كل يوم". إن الكاتب يطرح هنا جملة من القضايا التي ينبغي النظر فيها بعمق مثل علاج الرجل للمرأة ينبغي أن يتبعها هذا في إطار قاعدة الضرورة الشرعية فقط، لا أن يترك لقاعدة الهوى. أما في مجال التعليم فالأولى أن تتولى امرأة تعليم الفتيات المسلمات.
