أودع علي الصفدي في طيات هذا الكتاب سيرة مدينة صفد تلك السيدة التي استمدها من ماضي أولئك الذين عبثاً حاولوا التشبث بالأرض ولكنهم اقتلعوا منها بالقوة الصهيونية والاستعمارية، واستمدها أيضاً من سيرة أولئك الذين صبروا وصابروا وتحملوا الأذى والقهر وصمدوا في البقاء على أرض الأباء والأجداد، عن هؤلاء وأولئك سرت سيالة سيرة صفد وهي من ماضيهم ومن تراثهم الشعبي ومن واقع نكبتهم وتشردهم خارجها وتداخل صورهم الحياتية، هذه السيرة التي لا تختلف كثيراً عن سير المدن الفلسطينية الأخرى التي كانت وستبقى في نظر أهلها وأصحابها الشرعيين ووفق حقائق التاريخ والمنطق مدناً عربية مهما طال زمن استيطانها الصهيوني.
