ولد عام 1938 في محافظة المنوفية.
حاصل على ليسانس دار العلوم التربوي 1959م.
تنقل بين وظائف التربية والتعليم, وكان أبرز وظائفه تدريسه مادة النحووالصرف لطلبة كلية دارالعلوم, وعمله مستشاراً تربويّاً لوزير التربية والتعليم اليمني, ومشرفاً تربويّاً على طلبة كلية التربية, بجامعة عين شمس, ويعمل الآن مديراً عامّاً لمكتب وزير التعليم المصري للاتصال السياسي بمجلسي الشعب والشورى.
عضو اتحاد كتاب مصر, ولجنة تطوير مناهج اللغة العربية.
شارك في تأليف كتب اللغة العربية بمصر وليبيا واليمن.
شارك في العديد من البرامج الثقافية في الإذاعتين المسموعة والمرئية, ونشر أشعاره ودراساته الأدبية بمجلات مصر والكويت وليبيا واليمن والسعودية.
دواوينه الشعرية : الأصوات والصدى 1972.
مؤلفاته : فن الشعر بين التراث والحداثة ـ عشاق المحروسة.
حصل على جملة من الجوائز وشهادات التقدير الجامعية, وعلى الدكتوراه الفخرية من الأكاديمية العالمية للثقافة والفنون (كاليفورنيا).
