"إن خوطبوا كذبوا، أو طولبوا غضبوا، أو حوربوا عربوا أو صوحبوا غدروا، خافوا على العار أن يمحى، فكان لهم على الرباط، لدعم العار، مؤتمر" من وهي هذين البيتين الشعريين الوطنيين الشهيرين، ومن هي سائر شعر عمر أبو ريشة الوطني الذي قاله من أكثر من مناسبة، وحفل من وحي شعره الوطني الذي قاله في فلسطين قبل النكبة عام 1948م، وبعد النكبة... من وحي شعره الغزالي، وما أحفل ديوان عمر بشعر الغزل والحب والجمال، وهو الشاعر الذي أطلقت عليه جريدة الأيام السورية ذات يوم، لقب شاعر الحب والجمال.
كان هذا الكتاب الذي عنون بـ"عمر أبو ريشة شاعر الحب والوطنية" والذي قسمت مادته إلى بابين رئيسيين هما: الباب الأول: شاعر الحب وهو عبارة عن ثلاثة فصول هي التالية: 1-مظاهر الحب الإباحي أو القصصي. 2-مظاهر الحب العذري، أو المثالي، 3-خصائص مميزة. أما الباب الثاني: شاعر الوطنية فهو عبارة عن فصلين اثنين هما: 1-ما قبل النكبة، 2-ما بعد النكبة. هذا وختم الكتاب، بمقتطفات شعرية تم انتقاءها من ديوان عمر أبو ريشة.
