تتناول هذه السلسلة عدداً من أدباء وشعراء العرب، وهي تتوخى الجمع بين الشمول والدقة من جهة، والبحث العلمي الرصين، وما يتطلبه القارئ من معرفة شاملة حول الأديب أو الشاعر من جهة ثانية.
ينتمي "عمر أبو ريشة" إلى تلك الفئة من الشعراء التي تعرف الإفادة من حضورها الشخصي للترويج لنتاجها الفني - شأنه في ذلك شأن نزار قباني مثلاً - وإن كان هذا لا ينتقص من القيمة الفنية لهذه الفئة؛ بل المقصود أنهم بحضورهم يضمنون شهرة قد تتجاوز قيمتهم الفنية الفعلية، خاصة إذا قامت هذه الشهرة على قصيدة - أو على عدد من القصائد - تمكنت من الدخول في وجدان الجماهير وأوتيت سيرورة طاغية.
ومهما يكن من أمر فإن شاعرنا كان واحداً من أبرز الشعراء الثلاثينيات والأربعينيات في القرن الماضي، وعرف كيف يكون صوتاً فريداً في شعر تلك الحقبة ويستحق وقفة متأملة معه.
وقد حاولت هذه الدراسة الجمع بين الموضوعية والدقة والشمول مع الإختصار، والتوفيق بين متطلبات البحث الأكاديمي وحاجة القارئ العادي، ثم اتبعت بنماذج مختارة من نتاج الشاعر قد تغني عن العودة إلى ديوانه.
