الرواية العربية التي تقاذفتها أمواج القرن العشرين المنصرم، نجحت بهمة صانعيها بالوصول إلى شاطئ العمارة الروائية العالمية بتقدير واحترام، ما شجع حملة الأقلام المهتمين بحمل الواقع على أجنحة فن السرد، يطلقون العنان لضخ أفكارهم، التي متحت من مناجم القهر والاستلاب والوجع، في حاضنة الرواية العربية القادرة على هضم واستيعاب الحكايات وشخوصها، وأحداثها بواقعيتها، ومتخيلها.. واللافت للنظر أن شبابنا المدججين بأسلحة المعرفة الحديثة، أغوتهم كتابة آبائهم، فأمتعتهم، فحاكوها بما ظنوا أنهم يستقلون عرباتهم العتيقة المذهّبة على خيولٍ مطهّمة، فامتطوا متنها، وساقوها بلغتهم المعاصرة غير متناسين ما ورثه الآباء من متعة في السرد، ورشاقة في اللغة . ولعلَّ الكاتب أيوب الحجلي من الجيل الشاب الذي قرأت في عينيه إصراراً لامعاً، على إنجاز محطته الأولى في عالم الرواية ( آلهة الدموع ) الحاملة بين سطورها السمات الواخزة لشخوصها على مسرح حياتهم الاجتماعية، فابّتلت بتلاتُ ورودها ببحر دموع الآلهة، وبدت شعاب الرحلة مليئة بالتعرجات المنهكة، يسرعُ المرء في القراءة ليقترب أكثر من مصائر أبطالها التي تحاكي بصيغة من الصيغ مصائر حياتنا ولو بأوجه عدّة، ويتصاعد الألم الاجتماعي الجمعي، إلى أن يضعَك أيوب الحجلي أمامَ نفسك كقارئ ومشاركٍ في إعادةِ تشكيل عالمٍ منحازٍ إلى سمو النفس البشرية، كل ذلك محمول على متن لغةٍ سردية متماسكة، ترتاح مفردتها في سياق الجملة دون تكلّفٍ أو عناء. وهذا ما يؤشر إلى خطوة أولى في طريق طويلة لا يحتاج أيوب إلى الوصول إلى مبتغاه إلاّ إلى عينٍ ثاقبة، ونَـفـَـسٍ جموح، ورهانٍ على الذات، على الفوز بالذات، في ميدانٍ أقلُّ ما يقالُ فيه أنّه معترك، معترك الأدب الجميل.
