إن الإهتمام بدراسة التاريخ عامل مهمّ من عوامل التقدم الإنساني، والجماعات الإنسانية على إختلاف زمانها ومكانها، ليست واحدة، إنما الحضارة الناتجة عن فعل هذه الجماعات هي تراث إنساني يتقاسمه المجتمع البشري بأكمله.
وفي هذا البحث عن الكرد والمسألة الكردية عبر العهود، حاولت جاهداً أن أبقيها في إطارها التاريخي والطبيعي، وإيضاحها وإخراجها ضمن منهج علمي أكاديمي يستند إلى المراجع الموثوقة، والوثائق الخارجية المحققة والمنقّحة، بعيداً عن غبار الخيال، والسرد القصصي، وحلم الشعر، وفورة العاطفة.
فالبقعة الجغرافية التي يتواجد فيها الكرد (كردستان)، تتقاسمها أربع دول، هي: إيران، وتركيا، والعراق، وسوريا؛ ولكل دولة من هذه الدول حدودها الجغرافية والسياسية المعترف بها دولياً، وكيانها المستقل وأنظمتها ودساتيرها المعتمدة، في حين فرضت الطبيعة الجغرافية، والواقع الزمن والسياسي أن وجود الكرد ضمن هذه الدول.
وضمن هذه الكيانات وهذه الأنظمة والتي يحاولون فك الإرتباط معها، أو تعديل مواثيقها وقوانينها ودساتيرها، والسعي إلى إدارة ذاتية عند البعض منهم، وإلى الإستقلال وإنفصال كليّ عند البعض الآخر، في حين ارتضى فريق منهم العيش ضمن هذه الدول وتحت لوائها كمواطنين متساوين في الحقوق والواجبات الإجتماعية والسياسية على السواء.
وهذه الدراسة، وهذا البحث في القضية الكردية، لم يتوقّف فقط على المسألة السياسية التي تكون قد أخذت حيّزاً لا بأس به، إنما عملت جاهداً وبنوع خاص على إظهار الناحية الحضارية عند الكرد بما تتضّمنه من لغة وثقافة ودين وعلم وإقتصاد، وعادات وتقاليد وأنظمة وأدب وشعر وفن وغيرها.
كما شرحت وبيّنت في هذا الكتاب علاقة الكرد بالشعوب المجاورة وبالإسلام والدولة العثمانية وتأثيرهم وتأثّرهم بتاريخ هذه المنطقة، التي هم فيها، والدول التي ينضوون تحت لوائها والشعوب التي يعيشون بين ظهرانيها، ويشكلون جزءاً لا يتجزأ منها.
