الرواية ببساطة عمل شعريّ يقولُ كلّ شيء من دون مواربة أو حذر، أو هذا ما نخلص إليه لدى خروجنا من رواية (حصار) للعراقيّ كريم شعلان.وعلى الرغم من الإحالة الواقعيّة ذات البعد التاريخيّ التي يشتمل عليها العنوان بمفردة وحيدة، وبصيغة التنكير، إلاّ أنها كفيلة لتعود بالقارئ إلى حقبة زمنيّة لها خصوصيّتها وأثرها. وبقدر مباشرة العنوان، إلّا أنّ نصّ الرواية الذي جاء في 15 لوحة سرديّة لم يكن مباشرا بالمعنى التقريريّ للكلمة. فمن خلال تقنيّة(تيار الوعي) التي عمد إليها الكاتب استطاع أن يحقّق توازنا إيقاعيّا بين أن يواجه المتلقي نصّا شعريّا مجرّدا بلغته المفاجئة والانزياحيّة، أو نتابع أحداثا روائيّة ذات نزوع سيَريّ، والسيرة هنا تنفكّ من علاقتها بالرّاوي، لتشكّل سيرة شاملة لشعب كامل، وليكون المتلقّي مِنْ ثَمّ أمام وثيقة إدانة بليغة لا تعرّي الفاشيّة والديكتاتوريّة التي عبثت بمعنى الإنسان العراقيّ الذي ينتمي إليه الكاتب، وينتصر له أنطولوجيّا، فحسب، بل هي إدانة أخلاقيّة للمجتمع الدوليّ برمته، ولفلسفة القوّة والبطش وهما وجهان آخران للإرهاب الّذي يدّعي ذلك المجتمع رفضه، وتدّعي تلك الفلسفة مواجهته.رواية (حصار) درس إبداعي في الكوميديا السوداء وهي تحكي فصلا طويلا من تراجيديا وطن وشعب، في هذا العمل يضحك المتلقي بعمق ويبكي بعنف ويسافر مع لغته في خيال جامح، ويجد نفسه، أخيرا، مواجها نفسه بصدق. إنّها سؤال بريء جدّا لا يملك أحد جوابا عنه: (هل حدث ذلك حقّا.. وهل انتهى؟!)
