انطلق الشابّ ياسيمن إلى إحدى شوارع مدينة سراييفو المحاصرة للقاء خطيبته ليلى في يوم ربيعي في آذار 1995، كانت ينتمي إلى إحدى فرق النخبة في جيش البوسنة والهرسك، وكان يقضي جلّ وقته على الجبهة مدافعاً عن مدينته.
خاض أشرس المعارك ضدّ وحدات الجيش الصربي الأكثر تسليحاً وعتاداً، أمّا خطيبته ليلى فكانت تشغل تفكيره في أصعب اللحظات على الجبهة عندما كانت أصوات القنابل وصفير الرصاص تضمّ الآذان.
كانت ليلى تعمل في إحدى معسكرات قّوات حفظ السلام التابعة للأمم المتّحدة، حيث تعّرضت لتحرشات ضبّاط القوّات الدوليّة وقاومت مغرياتهم في أحلك أوقات الجوع والحرمان التي تعرّض لها أبناء جلدتها ولكنّها كانت تفكّر طوال الوقت بخطيبها وتدعو له.
خطّطت للخروج من المدينة المحاصرة والهروب من زوبعة القتال مع ياسمين من خلال تصريح خاصّ تمكنت من الحصول عليه من الأمم المتحدة.
ولكن ياسمين رفض الخروج، فهو وطنيّ لا يستطيع خيانة رفاقه الذين تقاسموا معه مخاطر الحرب مآسي القتال، فقد أنقذوه من الموت مرّات عديدة.
سنعرف ما حلّ بهما في نهاية القصّة المليئة بالمخاطر والأحداث الدامية والمآسي والحبّ والصداقة التي تستمرّ حتّى الموت.
هذه القصّة تحكي فظائع الحرب التي مرت بها البوسنة والهرسك من عام 1992 حتى عام 1995، وتحكي وقائع معارك حاسمة للدّفاع عن سراييفو المحاصرة ومعركة مستمرّة لبقاء أكثر من 300 ألفّ مدني خضعوا لحصار تامّ بدون ماء وكهرباء وغذاء، وعاشوا على وقائع القنابل والصواريخ.
