ولد خورخي ماريو بيدرو بارغاس يوسا، في 28 مارس عام 1936، أريكويبا، بيرو.
روائي وصحفي وسياسي بيروفي/ إسباني.
حصل على جائزة نوبل في الأدب عام 2010.
برز في عالم الأدب بعد نشر روايته الأولى "المدينة والكلاب" التي نال عليها جوائز عديدة منها جائزة "ببليوتيكا بريفي" عام 1963 م وجائزة "النقد" عام 1998 م.
وقد ترجمت إلى أكثر من عشرين لغة أجنبية.
وتتالت أعماله الروائية، وتعددت الجوائز التي حصل عليها، وقد كان من أشهرها حصوله على جائزة ثيرفانتس للآداب عام 1994 م، والتي تعد أهم جائزة للآداب الناطقة بالإسبانية.

تحدّث الناس في بيورا كثيراً عن البيت الأخضر البدائي، ذلك المسكن الأصلي الذي لم يعد أحد يعرف تماماً كيف كان فعلاً، ولا التفاصيل الصحيحة عن تاريخه.
فالذين ما يزالون على قيد الحياة من تلك الحقبة، وهم قليلون جداً، اختلط عليهم الأمر وتناقضوا، صاروا يخلطون بين ما رأوه وسمعوه وبين تلفيقاتهم ذاتها.
والعارفون صاروا في أرذل العمر، وصمتهم فيه إصرار شديد يجعل من غير المجدي استنطاقهم، على أي حال لم يعد للبيت الأصلي وجود.
تقول القصص المانغاتشية إن البيت الأخضر كان كبيراً جداً، أكبر أبنية ذلك الوقت، وكانت فيه مصابيح كثيرة ملونة عُلِّقت إلى نوافذه وإن أنواره كانت تجرح البصر وتصبغ الرمل حوله بل وكانت تضيء الجسر أيضاً، لكن خاصّته الرئيسية كانت الموسيقى، التي كانت تتفجر في موعدها في الداخل عند حلول المساء، وتستمر طول الليل.
