أنا مَيّتة. مِتُّ يوميْن. استيقظتُ باكرا، أخذتُ حمّاما، تعطّرتُ واخترتُ فستانا صيفيّا، رغم أنّنا كنّا في الشّتاء. لم يكن الجوّ باردا. ثمّ إنّها رغبتي، رغبة في ارتداء قماش خفيف، مُلَوَّن. لا شيء أكثر حزنا من أن يرتدي الإنسانُ دائما «كما ينبغي». لا شيء أكثر إحباطا من هؤلاء الذين لا يقولون أشياء مغايرة أو يقومون بأعمال «مُختلفة». كان والِدا رومان هكذا، تلميذَيْن نجيبَيْن، يسردان حياتهما مثل درس يحفظونه عن ظهر قلب، دون ارتكاب خطأٍ بسيط. لا أعرف ما الأبشع، عدم تصالح الإنسان مع العالم أم تكيّفه مع كلّ شيء، المجانين أم الأسوياء كما يُقال. أعرف أنّي أخشى المجانين على نحو أقل، أعتقد أنّهم أقلّ خطرا.
نحتاجُ إلى أن نعيشَ حياتَيْن في واحدة، بدَميْن في قلوبنا، السّعادة مع الألم، الضّحكُ مع الظّلال، جوادَيْن لعربة واحدة، كلٌّ منهما يسحبُ من جانبِه بسرعة مجنونة. هكذا نمضي، فرسانا، فوق دروب ثلجيّة، بحثًا عن المنعَطَفِ الصّحيح، بحثًا عن الفكرة الصّائبة، حيث يحرقنا الجمالُ أحيانا، كغصن واطئ يصفَعُ وَجهنا، ويَعَضُّنا أحيانا، كذئب رائع يرتقي إلى حُنجرتنا.
