يعتبر ليونيد أندرييف أحد أعظم الأدباء الرّوس في القرن العشرين. اشتغلَ في أغلب رواياتهِ على الغوصِ في آلامِ الإنسانِ وأسئلتهِ الحارقة. في روايتهِ "سجن بلا سقف" يغلقُ ليونيد أندرييف الزنزانة على القارئ فيفتحُ أمامهُ أسئلة حارقة تنامُ في داخلنا منذ ولادتنا بصرخة عالية لا نعرف مصدرها؛ أسئلة الحب والأمل والعدالة وعلاقتنا بأنفسنا. تتحوّل الجدران في هذه الرواية إلى جدارٍ واحد، يصلبُ فيهِ العالم بين أعيننا مثلما تصلبُ السّعادة في عين باكية أو تصلبُ الإبتسامة في وجهِ صبي يبكي أو تصلبُ غابة في فأسٍ مرفوعةٍ. قد تكتبُ مئات الرّوايات التي تعكس اغتراب الإنسان وحيرتهِ ولكن عندما يكتب ليونيد أندرييف يتوقّفُ كلّ شيء يحيطُ بنا، لكنّ شيئا واحدًا يظلُّ في حركة دائمة، إنّهُ قلب الإنسان المغلف بالمآسي والجراحات. سجنٌ بلا سقف رواية الإنسان الباحث عن معناه في داخلهِ. حين ينفصل عن كلّ شيء ويظلّ سجنهُ الوحيد ذاتهُ، تلك الذات الممتدّة نحو أفق لا محدودة وتضاريس لانهائية
