كان ناصر المنقور أحد أهم الرجالات، الذين ساهموا في تأسيس دعائم العمل الإداري والسياسي والدبلوماسي في السعودية، خلال مسيرة أربعين عامًا، ما كلَّ العزمُ فيها ولا لان. عمل مديرًا عامًا ثم وزيرًا، وسفيرًا فوق العادة، وفي كل أحواله، وتبدّل حالاته، ظلّ الرجل الوفي، الكبير، الذي لم تغيّره المناصب ولا الألقاب، ولم تزِد من بريقه وحضوره، الذي كان طاغيًا في قلوب محبيه وعارفي فضله، من قبل ومن بعد.
كان، بإنسانيته المتناهية، وبفكره الواعي، وحسّه الأخلاقي المرهف، متساميًا فوق رذائل الدنيا ومتاعها. أحبَّ الناس وتعامل معهم بمعروف وإحسان، وخدم دولته ومواطنيها -كما يجب أن تكون الخدمة والتضحية-، في شرفٍ وعفّة، أسَرَت قلوب الناس، فأحبّوه وبادلوه الوفاء. كان متواضعًا في حياته، ونموذجًا يحتذى في الصبر والحُلم والأناة، كما كان في كرمه، وفي مروءته. أما في إنكاره لذاته، وما قدّمه من جهود ومن إنجازات لدولته ومواطنيها، كان يأبى أن يتحدّث عنها، فتلك مزيّة من مزايا نُبلٍ ووفاء، قلّ أن توجد عند غيره، ممن تسنّم من المناصب، ما هو دون مناصبه.
كان في حياته، رغم علو شأنها، سهلًا ليّنًا، يُعطي ولا يأخذ، لا يُكلِّف على الآخرين، ولا يشقّ عليهم، يقابلهم بحرارة، ويودّعهم بابتسامة، وهكذا كان في مماته، حين أوصى أن يُدفن في أي مكان يموت فيه، ليُبعد المشقّة والكُلفة عن أصدقائه ومحبيه. هكذا كان، فكانت هذه السيرة.
