إن الدافع وراء إخراج هذه الدراسة إلى حيز الوجود، هو الإيمان العميق بأن المليك المؤسس عبدالعزيز آل سعود، بفعله وحدثه التاريخي وإيمانه الصادق، قد صنع رجالًا ساهموا معه، كلٌ حسب استطاعته، في توحيد أجزاء هذا الوطن ولمِّ شتاته، ثم العمل سويًّا من أجل بنائه ونهضته. وهؤلاء رجال كثيرون، في مختلف المدن والمناطق، وكلُ واحدٍ منهم بحاجة إلى أن يُدرس ويُبرز الدور الذي قام به، في وطنٍ يعرف لأهل الفضل فضلهم، ليطّلع الجيل الناهض من أبناء اليوم على رجالات المليك المؤسس ودورهم في التوحيد والبناء.
وتأتي هذه الدراسة لتسليط الضوء على الجهود التي بذلها الشيخ رجا بن مويشير، الذي يُعد أبرز رجالات منطقة الجوف في النصف الأول من القرن الرابع عشر الهجري (العشرين الميلادي)، بما كان له من أدوار سياسية مهمة، عندما قوّض سلطة آل الشعلان بالثورة عليهم، وقتل منصوبهم على الجوف، ودعوة الأمير سعود بن رشيد كي يضمّ الجوف إلى سلطته، ثم إنه تزعّم الثورة على آل الشعلان مرةً أخرى، عندما آلت إليهم الجوف، بل وصعّد التمرد -كما يقول فلبي- وأرسل أخاه حمدًا، أثناء محاصرة حائل، على رأس وفد من أجل مقابلة الملك عبدالعزيز وإعلان رغبة أهالي الجوف بالانضمام تحت لواء الدولة السعودية الحديثة، وهذا ما تمّ.
