في كتابه (طائر النار) يقدم الناقد المغربي "إبراهيم قهوايجي" قراءة (نقدية - تحليلية) في تجربة الشاعر السعودي "علي الحازمي" من خلال مجموعاته الشعرية الأربعة: "بوابة الجسد" وجاءت تحت عنوان: الواقع والصياغة الشعرية للكون، "خسران" وجاءت تحت عنوان: من الواقع إلى اللغة أو التشكيل الشعري للخسران، "الغزالة تشرب صورتها" وجاءت بعنوان: الكتابة وجمالية التخييل، وأخيراً "مطمئناً على الحافة" واختار لها عنوان: كتابة الوجود وسؤال القلق.
اعتبر المؤلف أن اختياره مقاربة التجربة الشعرية لدى علي الحازمي يأتي من كونها يمكن أن تمثل ملمحاً تغييرياً وطفرة نوعية في الشعر العربي عموماً والشعر السعودي على وجه الخصوص، لما تنطوي عليه منعطفاتها من قضايا وخصائص تيماتيكية وبنائية وفنية...
ويتابع المؤلف في المقدمة: عمدنا إلى تسمية هذا الكتاب بـ "طائر النار"، لأن المصاحبة النقدية التي سلكناها في مقاربة المنجز الشعري في تجربة الشاعر علي الحازمي كشفت لنا عن أن هذا الشاعر يُعد المعادل الموضوعي لطائر العنقاء الأسطوري الذي عندما تقترب حياته من نهايتها يبني لنفسه عشاً من أغصان الأشجار الصغيرة أو فوق قمة نخلة، وبعد ذلك مباشرة يشتعل العش حتى يحترق تماماً، وينشأ عن هذا الحريق رماد دقيق جداً منه ينشأ طائر عنقاء جديد، لهذا يسمّى "طائر النار" والطائر الجديد يعيش طويلاً مثل الطائر السابق، ويحدث نفس الشيء بالنهاية.
وتمثيلاً لحالة الشاعر الحازمي الشعرية، أراه هو طائر النار، وأرى عشه هو قصيدته التي تشبه البذرة، تنبت من قلب الشاعر لِتورق من اللغة قصائد لا حصر لعددها... وفي هذا العالم المليء باليباب والموت، نرى الشاعر مجاهداً في سبيل كتابة شعرية يعبر بها عن رؤياه التي تركتها الموجودات في قلبه أو مشاهد الأيام المؤلمة البشعة، وهي تنعكس أمام أعينه على مرآة الحوادث عاماً بعد عام.. وكأني بالشاعر هو طائر النار الذي يتجدّد في شعره من مجموعة شعرية إلى أخرى (...) وحسبي أن أقول إن علي الحازمي يعيش للشعر وله، فهو عشه، وكلما احترق هذا العش - المجموعة الشعرية إلا وبعثت من رماده مجموعة شعرية جديدة، وهكذا دواليك... قدّم لهذا الكتاب الأستاذ علي الوكيلي.
